Insight into the Effect of Natural Fracture Density in a Shale Reservoir on Hydraulic Fracture Propagation: Physical Model Testing

چکیده

Here, laboratory tests were conducted to examine the effects of natural fracture density (NFD) on propagation hydraulic (HF), HF and (NF) interaction, formation stimulated reservoir volume (SRV). Laboratory methods proposed prepare samples with dense, medium spare discrete orthogonal networks. After conducting a true triaxial fracturing experiment synthetic blocks, experimental results analyzed by qualitative failure morphology descriptions, quantitative analysis used two new indices. On pump pressure profiles, it reflected non-linear interactions between HFs NFs well. For rock blocks dense DFN density, curves present fluctuation shape degree interaction NF is strong; however, for model sparse sudden drop shape. In addition, different behaviors NFs—offset, divert, branch, cross NF—can be observed from fractured blocks. By using index “P-SRV”, relationship NFD effectiveness was further confirmed. Furthermore, most striking finding that mixed mode I–II I–III types can formed in naturally The are beneficial grasping influential mechanism developing more accurate full 3D-coupled simulation models unconventional oil gas development.

Effect of Hydraulic Fracture on the Fractured Reservoir Based on the Connection with Natural Fractures

Hydraulic fracturing in the fractured reservoirs plays a significant impact on the production rate. In this study, the hydrostatic condition is taken into account, the hydraulic fracturing operation was applied in every direction usinga written distinct element code. In each direction the hydraulic fracture is applied with different lengths and in each level the amount of production is predicte...

Hydraulic Fracture Propagation near a Natural Discontinuity

The trajectory of a hydraulically driven crack near natural fractures, faults, and inhomogeneities has been studied using the complex variable hypersingular boundary element technique. The crack trajectories are presented for the cases of an oblique and a steeply inclined fault. It has been demonstrated that natural fractures, faults, and other inhomogeneities generate unstable fracture conÞgur...

Comparison of Different Hydraulic Fracture Growth Models Based on a Carbonate Reservoir in Iran

There has been little interest in the application of hydraulic fracture treatment in Iranian oil fields, thanks to the primarily suitable production rates of the vast oil fields. In this paper, hydraulic fracturing treatment was simulated by different models for a carbonate reservoir in the southwest of Iran. Suitable pay zones were nominated based on the lithology, water-oil saturation, geomec...
